Annette Tapia-Cornet

I received my Master’s degree in Acupuncture at the Tai Sophia Institute (now the Maryland University of Integrative Health) in the United States, a program focused on classical, Five-Element Acupuncture. This tradition is focused on determining the root cause of a person’s constitutional imbalance. I find that this method of treatment can have a deeply transformative effect not only on the body, but also on the mind and spirit. I marvel at the effect treatments have on clients’ emotional well-being, even when it isn’t their primary complaint.

Over the years I have helped many patients with a wide variety of issues, including:  (in)fertility, obstetrics/gynecology issues, burnout, and recovery from post traumatic stress. I like to use an integrative approach, incorporating different styles of acupuncture, naturopathy, and bodywork, to help my patients feel their absolute best.

In addition to my practice, I am also National Coordinator for Acupuncturists Without Borders in the Netherlands, and sit on the Executive Committee for the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (ETCMA), managing special projects. My goal is to broaden awareness and expand acceptance of Acupuncture and Natural Medicine in modern health care.

Languages: I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and am conversational in Portuguese. Dutch-speaking patients: please note that while I understand Dutch very well, I speak it at a more basic level. Over the years, there have been numerous occasions where my patient and I have not spoken or understood each others’ languages, however, due to the nature of classical 5-Element diagnosis, this has NEVER been a barrier to providing an effective treatment.
