We are proud to announce that we have added a new specialisation to our clinic: Scalp Acupuncture. Our acupuncturists Celine, Lizeta, Widi and Cynthia have recently completed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the advanced Scalp Acupuncture training with great success, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Tianjun Wang—an internationally recognised expert with over 30 years of experience in this field.
What Is Scalp Acupuncture and What Can It Help With?
Scalp Acupuncture is a specialised form of acupuncture in which fine needles are inserted into specific zones of the scalp. These zones are directly connected to areas of the brain responsible for various physical and mental functions. This technique combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with neurological insights from Western medicine.
How Does Scalp Acupuncture Work?
By targeting the right areas of the scalp, specific brain regions are stimulated—those involved in motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. This can lead to improvements in areas such as:
- Motor functions (e.g. movement)
- Sensory functions (e.g. sensation)
- Cognition (e.g. speech and concentration)
- Pain relief
Which Neurological Conditions Can Scalp Acupuncture Help With?
Scalp Acupuncture is successfully used for a wide range of neurological and other conditions, including:
- Neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, MS, stroke (CVA), and tremors
- Acquired brain injuries (ABI)
- Paralysis, numbness, muscle weakness, and tingling
- Chronic pain
- Balance disorders and vertigo
- Speech, concentration, and memory problems
What Are the Benefits of Scalp Acupuncture for Neurological Conditions?
- Rapid improvement: Many patients experience noticeable results after just a few sessions.
- Safe and associated with minimal side effects.
- Targeted recovery of brain function and physical control.
